Getting Involved with Noor
In addition to publishing work, Noor aims to establish a vibrant community furnished with diverse voices, perspectives, and light to share. Although we take significant inspiration from Armenian and Middle Eastern Art and literature, submissions and positions are open to all identities and backgrounds. Currently, we are looking for more consistent contributors to our organization—as well as assistant editors, interns, and mentors.
Editing Opportunities
Want to have a direct impact on the magazine, be exposed to our diverse submissions, or familiarize yourself with the publication process? Consider joining Noor's editing team.
We offer several editor positions with varying time commitments and influence in the magazine. Currently, the roles we offer are as follows: Managing Editor, Poetry/Prose/Art Editor, and Assistant Editor.
For those who'd like to have an impact beyond vetting submissions and organizing other aspects of our website and magazine, we offer the following positions:
Editorial Intern: Editorial interns aid in vetting publications on a more fleeting basis. Those unable to make a long-term commitment to our magazine due to outside constraints can still have their vision heard through this position.
Social Media Intern: Social Media interns aid in coordinating Noor's social media posts and public outreach. This is a valuable opportunity for those pursuing communications, marketing, or public relations.
Graphic Design Intern: Graphic Design interns aid with designing the magazine & website.
Website Design Intern: Although we focus mainly on the humanities, Noor also provides opportunities for website design and coding for those interested in computer science. Currently, our main goal is to streamline our website's organization to best feature work concisely.
Internship Opportunities
Mentorship Opportunities
Most of Noor's staff is younger; however, we more than welcome influence from older and more experienced writers.
If you'd like to work with our staff on a laid-back basis without major time constraints or requirements, feel free to apply for a position as a mentor. In the future, we would love to host events and workshops, and mentorship is critical in this.
Why You Should Join
Currently, all of our positions are unpaid; however, we are considering financial compensation for our staff in the future. Despite this, we aim to compensate our staff in many ways. All our staff members will be featured on our website alongside their work and a bio detailing their contributions, which they can share to attest their work to institutions or future employers.
Additionally, Noor especially looks for younger staff members—including high school students—which most journals do not. Regardless of your age or where you come from, getting involved with Noor could foster your growth as an artist, writer, or professional invaluably.
Furthermore, your time with us could be integral for your college or university applications, as well as provide you with college credit and sign-off on your hourly commitments.
Thank you for your interest in Noor. We look forward to hearing from you!
